At their launch, the New Generation DAF trucks were already 10% more efficient than their highly economical predecessors. Thanks to a series of innovations, an additional 3% fuel savings has been achieved since last autumn.
Optimizations in the driveline play a key role in further fuel savings. Additionally, the standard features of the New Generation DAF trucks now include digital cameras, a complete aerodynamics package, low rolling resistance tires, and predictive cruise control. These enhancements further improve fuel efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
Every DAF tractor or rigid truck designed for long-haul transport can be configured as an Efficiency Champion, provided it meets at least Class 3 of the Maut, Germany's toll system for trucks.
DAF dealers utilize the advanced TOPEC program to tailor vehicle configurations for specific applications. This tool helps visualize the impact of choices such as a faster rear axle ratio or smaller fuel tanks on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Unbeatable Efficiency
"An optimal specification and registration before July 1, 2025, ensures six years of toll benefits within the German Maut system," says Bart Bosmans, member of the DAF Trucks Board of Management, responsible for Marketing & Sales. "Every day, we work on making our trucks even more fuel-efficient. The Efficiency Champions demonstrate just how crucial vehicle specifications are in achieving the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 emissions."
