Kia Becomes First Carmaker to Offer Real-Time Safety Alerts via TLEX Platform

Collaboration Enables Emergency and Rescue Vehicle Alerts to Be Sent Directly to Cars via National Mobility Infrastructure

Kia Becomes First Carmaker to Offer Real-Time Safety Alerts via TLEX Platform

Monotch, a specialist in smart mobility technology, is partnering with Kia to integrate emergency service alerts directly into Kia vehicles. These real-time alerts are made possible through the TLEX® (Traffic Live Exchange) platform, which also powers the Dutch Urban Data Access Platform (UDAP).

Thanks to this collaboration, a direct data connection between car manufacturers (OEMs) and a national CCAM (Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility) platform has been established. It marks an important step in the broader deployment of real-time, data-driven technology to improve road safety.

“Our collaboration with Kia marks a significant shift in how the automotive industry views traffic safety,” says Menno Malta, CEO of Monotch. “The technology has already proven itself — the real breakthrough is that real-time safety data is now being built directly into vehicles as standard.”

The UDAP platform, based on Monotch’s TLEX technology, enables smooth and direct traffic data exchange between all involved parties: from traffic control centers and emergency services to the vehicles themselves. As a result, Kia drivers will now receive alerts as soon as an emergency vehicle is nearby, allowing them to react more quickly and safely.

“We’re proud to be the first car manufacturer directly connected to UDAP,” says Olivier Pascal, General Manager Connected Cars at Kia Connect. “Integrating these crucial safety alerts into our vehicles is an important step in our strategy for smarter and safer mobility.”

With TLEX, alerts are sent directly from ambulances to vehicles. This gives drivers those precious extra seconds to respond in time and safely. It’s not just about getting ambulances to incidents or hospitals faster — it’s about saving lives and preventing accidents, thanks to crucial information delivered at exactly the right moment.

“We’re seeing that real-time safety alerts are increasingly being recognized as an essential component of connected vehicles,” adds Menno Malta. “Together with manufacturers like Kia, we want to further roll out smart and safe mobility across Europe.”

“Our connected vehicles are capable of receiving and displaying safety alerts, no matter where they are in the world,” confirms Olivier Pascal. “We actively encourage more countries to adopt this technology, so that drivers everywhere can travel more safely.”
