DAF Trucks and TotalEnergies Join Forces to Accelerate the Decarbonization of Road Transport

DAF Trucks N.V. and TotalEnergies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of zero-emission mobility solutions for road transport.

This collaboration leverages DAF’s leadership in truck manufacturing and TotalEnergies’ expertise in sustainable mobility solutions. The partnership underscores both companies’ dedication to the energy transition and compliance with the European Union’s CO2 emission reduction targets.

The agreement focuses on three key initiatives:

  • Exploring opportunities for DAF customers to maximize the use of TotalEnergies’ charging network and roaming services.
  • Accelerating the development of Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS) for ultra-fast charging of electric trucks, with a pilot program to help shape the future of charging infrastructure.
  • Supplying a range of low-carbon energy products and solutions from TotalEnergies to DAF’s production facilities, supporting DAF’s efforts to reduce Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions.

“The collaboration with TotalEnergies is a fantastic opportunity to combine our expertise and offer customers sustainable and innovative transport solutions,” said Harald Seidel, President of DAF Trucks N.V. “DAF is setting the standard in battery-electric vehicles, which can achieve zero-emission ranges of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. This MoU enhances opportunities to accelerate the transition to sustainable transport solutions.”

“As a key partner in road transport, we are delighted to contribute to the decarbonization of the sector together with DAF,” said Mathieu Soulas, Senior Vice President New Mobilities at TotalEnergies. “This partnership demonstrates that TotalEnergies can provide concrete solutions to reduce the CO2 footprint of its customers’ fleets. Pragmatic collaborations like this are essential to enabling the energy transition.”
