The port of Rotterdam hosted the second Executive Event, an initiative of RAI Association's Automotive Industry NL section. This exclusive event was organized to bring members together on a small scale and share knowledge about pioneering innovations within the automotive industry. The event was entirely dedicated to hydrogen, a promising sustainable energy carrier.

The Executive Event caught the attention of RAI Automotive Industry NL members, who are exploring the emergence of hydrogen as a renewable energy source. Jean Pierre Heijster, Manager Manufacturing & Materials at RAI Automotive Industry NL, noted: "We had a good turnout attending this event. Randolf Weterings, program manager for electrification and hydrogen at the Port of Rotterdam, revealed exclusive insights into the port's hydrogen program in his presentation. Rotterdam, a leading energy hub in Europe with 30% of the continent's energy supplies, plays a crucial role in the transition to renewable energy for both large industries and mobility. The Maasvlakte, where old and new industries converge and green hydrogen production is growing substantially thanks to wind turbines and solar panels, embodies the port area's commitment to CO2 reduction and renewable energy.

Strong Dutch supply chain for the automotive industry

The Port of Rotterdam plays a key role in offering hydrogen as an energy option for the mobility sector. Several hydrogen projects were discussed during the Executive Event, including hydrogen trucks, barges, and other vehicles.
