Highlighting Composites in Automotive Mass Production
On Thursday, March 6, from 11:30 to 12:00, the Netherlands Pavilion will host a dedicated session on "Automotive: Mass Production of Composites." Freek de Bruijn will present the role of composites in the Dutch automotive sector, highlighting innovations such as thermoplastic welding for mass-producing composite bus parts. He will be joined by:
- Sjef van Breugel (Pontis Engineering BV) – Discussing the opportunities of thermoplastic welding as an efficient alternative to adhesive bonding for large structures in commercial vehicles.
- Michiel Wassink (VDL Fibertech) – Showcasing the mass production of large composite sidewall panels for the electric VDL Citea buses, manufactured using an advanced conveyor belt system.
