During the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies and knowledge institutions in the mobility sector came under financial pressure, leaving less room for investment in research and development focused on sustainability. The RDM scheme provided support to ensure the continuity of innovation in mobility on land, sea, and in the air.
The scheme was part of the government’s support and recovery package in response to the pandemic, intending to offset the decline in R&D investments in the mobility sector. A one-time budget of €150 million was made available. As a result, the RDM scheme successfully prevented major innovation setbacks in the aviation, maritime, and automotive industries during the crisis.
Results presented
Thanks to the program, eight collaborative initiatives were funded, each executing a range of projects focused on sustainability and digitalization within the mobility sector.
Recently, the participating partners presented their outcomes during a closing symposium, attended by Leo Warmerdam of Holland High Tech. The findings and experiences from these programs have been compiled in the publication “The Future is Now: A Tribute to Eight Innovation Projects in Mobility.”
The publication demonstrates how collaboration and technological progress go hand in hand in shaping the mobility of tomorrow.
A full recap of the program and an update on the collaborative projects will be shared soon.
