CYPRESS Project and Circular Vehicle Solutions: A Step Further Towards Sustainable Mobility

The CYPRESS project aims to position the Meuse-Rhine region as a frontrunner in sustainable, circular, and resource-efficient production of climate-neutral electric mobility technologies. This project plays a crucial role in the transition to circular vehicle production, contributing to the sector's employment, knowledge development, research, and innovation.

Highlight: Circular Vehicle Solutions Event on February 25, 2025

On February 25, 2025, the Circular Vehicle Solutions Conference took place at Circuit Zolder, bringing together experts and innovators from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. The event focused entirely on circular vehicle solutions and the path towards a more sustainable mobility industry.

Event Highlights

The program provided in-depth insights into circular technologies, regulations, and funding opportunities. Some of the key sessions included:

  • Keynotes from Leading Experts:
o Catherine Lenaerts (Febelauto): Circular Vehicles – Dream or Reality?
o Els Fonteyne (Agoria): Legislation and the Future of Circularity in Mobility.
o Jeroen van der Werf (VDL ETS): Practical Implementation of Circularity in the Industry.
  • Subsidy Workshops:
RAI Automotive Industry NL led a session on industrial subsidies for EV battery systems, discussing how companies can access financial support for circular innovations in battery technology.
  • Networking & Exhibition:
An interactive exhibition floor allowed participants to experience innovative solutions firsthand and engage with leading industry players.

The Role of RAI Automotive Industry NL

As one of the driving forces behind the CYPRESS project, RAI Automotive Industry NL has actively supported companies in transitioning towards circular production processes. During the event, special attention was given to subsidy opportunities for EV battery systems, enabling companies to invest in:

  • Development of new materials and battery components.
  • Production of circular battery systems.
  • Recycling and reuse of battery technology.

With financial support, companies can take concrete steps towards a circular future.

Working Together Towards Circular Mobility

The CYPRESS project runs from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2027, and is co-funded by the European Union and the Interreg Meuse-Rhine (NL-BE-DE) program. Together with partners such as TechniFutur®, AMAC GmbH, the University of Liège, werecircle cv, ITA Technologietransfer GmbH, and Chemelot Innovation and Learning Labs, we are working towards a sustainable and circular future for mobility.
